Starting Out
I started riding when I was four, when my grandpa got me a mini bike for Christmas. When I was eight I got a 200S three wheeler and loved it (you haven't lived till you've raced on three wheels). A few years later my dad got me into racing after he bought a 250 Suzuki Quad Racer. One day in Blythe CA we took it out and I started climbing some pretty gnarly hills, jumping and whipping it around corners (I was barely tall enough to clear the seat and reach the pegs).

First race was an ADRA event in Young AZ, on a Honda 200SX quad. I went to a 200x a few races later, Thank God. Memorable Events
My first class win was in 88' in the K-205 with ADRA. I did have overall wins in the youth classes in 1988, and then took my first competitive overall win in Prescott in 1992 I think, but I was penalized. My most memorable races were Prescott in 1991, when I was ambushed by ECO-terrorists and had a high speed get-off on my 16th birthday.

La Playa in 1991, we raced in 130-degree temperatures. I remember everyone hiding in the shade and my hands were covered in huge blood blisters at the end of the race. I couldn't even hold on, so my dad took out his Buck knife and cut them open so I could go on. I finished first in class that day and I think second or third overall.

I also have good memories of Gila Bend 1999, my first race back in over 6 years - placed 1st overall. Modifications that Help Me Win
I had Jerry Hall build me a custom 330 motor in 2001 and I have really enjoyed the extra ponies. Late 2002 I finally got a new frame and a +1 steering stem for the last race of the year, and it was great not to have to worry about it breaking and/or letting my motor come loose.

In these last couple of races we've really got the carb system dialed in for economy. Now the bike is perfect, especially for Mexico races. I'd also have to say that when I added my Durablue axle last year I felt like I was able to achieve another level in the desert. My IMS fuel tank is first class as well and its really cool having plastic like Fullbore.

I had earlier problems with my OEM plastic when it blew off in a race. I forgot to latch my Fullbore rear fenders down and they blew off blazing down the highway to a race. It was unbelievable - not only did they not break, they hardly had a dent after bouncing off the pavement at 60 mph.

In making a recommendation for things to make your bike better 1) Try one thing at a time to better note the difference and 2) continued precision maintenance. For Fun
.As far as other sports, in high school I ran track all four years and was fortunate enough to go to state in a few events. I played 3 years of football and basketball, 1 year of tennis (just for the hell of it) and 1 year of baseball which I actually played a lot as a youngster.

I also played intramural football and basketball through college as well as an adventure in Bull riding. This past fall I got recruited by an English soccer club (The Olde Ship) and played 2 games for them in Santa Anna CA (I had played a few times in Jr. High PE)

I'm not getting to do it right now since moving back to Arizona but while I was living in Huntington Beach I started surfing and I'm hooked. I also like to chill out with my guitar and write songs or make up stuff to make my friends laugh. Recently I borrowed a friends motorcycle for a weekend and I'm contemplating a few things. I tool around Gila Bend a bit whenever a friend gets a new toy but, I never really practice anymore. I usually just show up to races, enjoy my race buddies and get dirty

Current Plans and Goals
I'm going to test the waters with WORCS this year. It's been over a decade since I competed in motocross so I know I have a learning curve in that area. Also, No Rebase Racing (www.norebaseracing.com) is currently developing some ATV products that should be available late 2003. The racer promotions and membership part of No Rebase has been fun, along with some success this year. There's been quite a demand to do it again this year.

I had my first glimpse of the WORCS series and boy was I right about it being a learning experience. Neither my bike nor myself were prepared and I was embarrassed. My bike is in the shop right now going through some major changes. I did run pretty good at the start however and that gives me hope for the next race.

I would love to someday work for a major manufacturer, I'm an ASSE Certified Safety Manager and my University of Arizona BS in Environmental/AG Technologies Management hopefully makes something like that possible. Riding-wise, I still want to do Baja! I'd do it on quad, bike, car, horse, whatever. It's just what a desert racer has to do in order to say they had a complete career. Thanks
Elena and Gary at Durablue, Christina at IMS, Chuck at HJC, Diana at Fullbore, Bob Zing, Christine at BMI sunglasses, Sabrina and the gals at Whiplash, Jerry and Ken at Halls Precision, Kirk Schreier KS racing, my family and most importantly my fellow racers. In desert racing if you don't have friends you aren't finishing and if you crash you're really gonna wish you had been nicer to your competition.

Special thanks to Uncle Bob for everything these last couple of years, you deserve the best in life.

It is important to those reading to know who supports racing; it's the only way for the sport to grow but, don't list companies as sponsors and plaster their logos all over if their not doing something for you. Another tip; chances are if a company has been supporting racing for quite some time, their products probably work. More importantly, have fun and remember that it's your friends and family that really makes racing possible and worthwhile.
