Reliability is the name of the game. Unlike the 10-15 minute motocross heat, the whole weekend's investment comes down to how well rider and machine can handle the 45 minute endurance race. Building a competitive hare-scramble machine is different than a motocrosser in the respect that special attention is paid to making sure that what could go wrong won't go wrong. Proper preparation is key to finishing the race. And there's no LCQ or consolation round, so it's got to be right, right out of the box.

Racer Productions, the producers of the Grand National Cross Country Series, will mark the final round of the 2004 GNCC Series with a special race for 70cc - 90cc mini ATVs. GNCC ATV racers have been asking for a mini quad class for years, and the race will run as an experiment to see if mini quads can indeed be a feasible class to run at future GNCCs.
