Maxxis Finds Its Ballance

Source: Dealernews
At an invitation-only event Saturday, Maxxis (Indiana Convention Center, Booth 325) unveiled what it describes as its most aggressive and lightest radial ATV tire to date, the Razr Ballance. Designed with input from nine-time GNCC champ Bill Ballance, a longtime Maxxis rider, the tire is based on the Razr and Razr2. The 6-ply tire is intended for intermediate to loamy conditions, and reportedly provides “very predictable” sliding characteristics.

“These tires offer more traction than anything I’ve ever ridden, and I’m confident they’ll keep me in front on race day,” Ballance told Maxxis. He and fellow Maxxis-supported racers Mike Penland and Maria Forsberg were on-hand to sign autographs and chat with fans.

The front tire looks EXACTLY like the old Rzr2...

You have really good eye - I had to look at them at least a dozen times to figure it out. The tread pattern on front is identical. The difference is that the new Ballance tire is slightly squared off - the center of the tire doesn't peak as much, so there is more tire actually on the ground. Bigger footprint = more bite, more traction. The rear does have similar pattern to the standard version, but the lugs are spaced slightly differently.
