My wife and I drove 7 hrs friday night april 11, and
arrived at our hotel about 2:00 in the morning. I figure we got about
6 to 7hrs sleep , had breakfast and arrived at the Daniel Boone MX
Park around 10:00 for some HIGH FLYING adventure. I must admit ,the
first thing I told my wife when I first saw the track was"I
should of brought my quad". She said "I told you to bring
it". I was very impressed with the way everything was run over the
weekend. It appeared that all the motos ran very smoothly. A lot of the BIG name vendors were there if you needed
parts, accessories,or clothing. A lot of the pros were there. It's just amazing to check out the rigs
some of these guys pull in with. Hey, I can understand, you have to
have a big motor home or a 5th wheel, along with some of the biggest
trailers packed with all the best atv parts you can imagine. Saturday was a very nice day just to sit in the stands and watch the
heat races. Sunday got a little cold ,so we did alot of walking around to keep
warm and take pictures. They were selling plenty of hot chocolate and
coffee at the consession stand. They were even going out and buying
fresh hot pizza and bringing it back to the track to sell at the
consession stand. I sure am going to try to head back again for next years AMA ATV
Nationals at Daniel Boone MX Park. This track is by
far the nicest MX track I have ever been to. Let me tell you a little about it.
As your sitting at the starting gate, the first turn
is a sharp left onto the track. The first jump you see is a 50' table
top. After clearing the table there is a small step up just before you
head into a right turn called "wilderness corner". As you
proceed down a short straight called "rock castle
straites"you snake your way through a quick lefty righty corner
headed right towards the "can you jump".Its 80' long with a
15' vertical step up. After a small straight and a slight right turn
there is a small 25' double jump. You then make a left hand turn as
you prepare for the 200' downhill "ski jump"only to race
right up the other side right into the whoop de doos.
You will then bank left and then right as you head
back down into the valley and the "lower valley double". Hit
the gas hard because after the next right hand turn you hit the
"upper valley double". Now you can relax, it gets
easier.(Yeah right!) Now you head into a BIG sweeping curve, a 150
straight away. and 2 more table tops. The first one is 50' and the
second one is 30 ' with 20' in between. No problem untill.....
you hit the "supercross six",an
unforgiving set of 6 jumps placed 25' apart with a short straight and
another jump for good measure. Now you snake your way back down into
the "rocket pocket",and if you use enough throttle you will
be propelled across the finish line in spectacular fashion. This is
only the first half of the track.there is more. After you jump out of
the valley, you will jump a 50' table top followed by a right hand turn
a long straight away and a sweeping left hand turn. The next jump is a
tall 50' table top with the center section cut down by 7'. Next is a
short straight and a 30' step up jump followed by a left turn . Now as
you head down into "the gap" straight ahead of you is.....
the "stair steps", an uphill set of triple
jumps spaced 40' apart. You then head into a slightly downhill right
hand turn. Now you go through a hard right hand turn, a small set of
triples,a short straight, and then .....the "mammoth table
top". The table top itself is not that big. It's the landing
area. The backside of it drops down into the bottom of the gap and
then back up. The last section of the track is a right hander, a jump
over the tunnel, and a short straight right back into the first turn
again. The track is about 1.33 miles long and it looks like a lot of
fun to ride.
The pros were just awesome to watch.
I think this picture pretty much tells the story. Everyone had a good time. Any time you see someone attempt to do a heel clicker on a quad ,you
know he's having a good time.
