Chances are that if you
own an older ATV, or have had the misfortune of landing your machine rubber side
up, your seat cover probably needs recovering. Don't throw the baby out with the
bathwater! That is, no need to get a whole new seat if all you need is a new
cover. It's easier than you think...
The
18 year old seat needed some attention!
We contacted Travelcade
about getting one of their Saddlemen seat covers for our aging Suzuki LT50
Quad-Runner. A machine that's in great shape, except that with the nearly 18
years of little butts bouncing on the seat, the stitching has seperated and it
was starting to look down-right ugly. Travelcade to the rescue! If they have a
cover for this old quad, chances are they've got one for you.
Installation is as simple
as seat removal, cover removal, and careful cover installation. Admittedly, the
last step takes some finesse, but with a little patience your seat can come out
looking like it came of the showroom. Some seats rely on metal teeth to retain
the stretched cover (such as this one), while others have screws, and still
others have staples.
Just
like new!
The Saddlemen cover we got
for our Quad-Runner was probably nicer than the stocker was, and at least for
the author the easiest and best fitting cover ever installed. The cover material
is stretchable and has a foam inner lining. When pulled over the seat it fit
nicely all around the seat edges and had virtually non-existent creases and
wrinkles.
