 Installation

The first thing I noticed when we bought our 1997 Chevy Suburban 2500 4x4 was how much the rear tires are "hiding" under the rear fender flares while the front tires are actually wider than the flares. The 2500 & 3500 series GM products with four wheel drive have a wider front axle assembly than the 1500 series. Instead of matching the track width of the front axle, GM opted to use a narrow "off the shelf" rear axle. The rear axle is 4" more narrow than the front. Now before you guys laugh at the street tires,this Burb spends 95% of its time on paved surfaces towing off-road toys. I need the 10 ply tires to handle the weight of my trailer when loaded. The problems associated with the different track widths are: Leaning when driving through a curve Tires follow different "grooves" in the road causing the truck to "wiggle" These problems get worse when towing. Then I learned about the CorrecTrack Spacer kit. The spacer simply bolts to the existing rear wheel studs and corrects the track difference. These spacers greatly enhanced the stability of our Suburban when towing our car trailer. Leaning when driving through corners is virtually eliminated.Installation is simple and easy. Tools required:Jack,jack stands,lug wrench and most important,a torque wrench. Here are the installation instructions: 1-Lift and block rear axle of your vehicle. Remove lug nuts and wheel. 2-IMPORTANT-Remove any metal brake drum retaining clips that may not have been removed by the factory 3-Clean wheel-mounting surface to ensure proper alignment. 4-Install one CT SPACER over wheel lugs. Install using new lug nuts supplied with the kit. Tighten and torque to 140 ft. lbs. 5-Mount one wheel onto new CT SPACER lug studs. Using your lug nuts, tighten and torque all lug nuts to 140 ft. lbs. 6-Repeat with the other wheel. Follow steps 1 through 4. 7-As a safety check, after you have driven 30 miles with your new CT SPACERs, remove rear wheels and re-torque spacers to 140 ft. lbs. Re-install wheels and re-torque to 140 lbs/ft. 8-You will notice the vehicle now looks correct! 9-Please remember that these spacers enhance the handling properties of your vehicle. Take a few easy miles to get acquainted with the changes.
