There’s a new member of the Polaris ATV family - the
5-speed manual transmission family. The new 325 model joins its big
brother, the 5-speed Xpedition 425, in the Polaris line of ATVs for
2000. Ideal for work, trail riding, and hunting, the Xpedition 325
has a Polaris 325 4-stroke, air-cooled engine with a heavy duty,
3-stage oil cooled fan assist. The power is delivered to the wheels
via shaft drive, part of the Polaris Shaft Ride System, a unique
drive train suspension, chassis system which gives the Xpedition
325 an extremely tough, semi-integrated frame with fewer and
stronger components. The Shaft Ride System incorporates the Polaris
Tractionline mount rear shock, which increases the traction
delivered to the ground during acceleration and braking. The
long-travel, progressive rate swing arm rear suspension has a 1
5/8-inch twin-tube shock. The suspension provides 7.0 inches of
travel for a smooth ride and great handling. The Xpedition 325 has
a long-travel (6.7 inches) MacPherson strut front suspension and a
tight-turning radius of 65 inches. When the job or the trail calls
for extra traction, a rider can, without stopping, use a
handlebar-mounted thumb switch to activate the intelligent
On-Demand 4-wheel drive system, which provides true 4-wheel
traction. The Polaris 4-wheel drive system senses when the rear
wheels start to lose traction and instantly and automatically
engage both front wheels with full torque using shaft drive. The
5-speed Polaris Xpeditions are the only standard transmission
4-wheel drive ATVs on the market that can be switched between 2 and
4-wheel drive while on the move. Polaris-exclusive E-Z shift
Reverse which lets a rider shift into reverse quickly and easily.
Just push a button and tap the shift lever. It’s that simple!
Another unique feature is the stepped floorboard design which
positions the rider’s boot under the shift lever, yet keeps
the heel slightly higher for comfort and balance. As with all
Polaris ATVs, these are full floorboards with integrated footpegs.
The body panels of the Xpedition 325 are a striking metal flake
called Chestnut Metallic. The Chestnut Metallic is imbedded in the
durable plastic material through a unique manufacturing process
exclusive to Polaris. This process ensures that the color remains
as vibrant even after years of use as when the Xpedition 325 is
brand new. The full floorboards and front and rear cargo racks are
made of a durable composite material, and the cargo rack capacity
is 270 pounds (90 pounds front, 180 rear). The Xpedition 325 also
has two grille-mounted quartz halogen headlights, a brake light,
electric start, tow hitch, a tool kit, and a 3.75 gallon (U.S.)
fuel tank.
