New from the axle experts at Redline Performance Machine in Prescott , Arizona is a new Chomoly Raptor replacement subframe. After repairing several Raptor subframes for customers RPM decided to design a better subframe for the racer. In addition to making the subframe stronger by constructing it with 1" chromoly tubing rather than aluminum like the stock subframe, RPM added several more features. One really nice feature is a support bracket built into the subframe so that your battery box can remain installed and the rear fenders removed without having to remove the battery. RPM moved the voltage regular around to the left side instead of the subframe and provides a mounting spot rather than the OEM position on the rear of the battery box. The chassis mounting points are now heim joints which will give you some adjustment to raise or lower the subframe and true it as needed to the chassis.

Mounting for rear brake solenoid is provided on right side.

Installation Replacing the rear subframe is not a hard task but there is quite a bit of dismantling required. You will need to remove both front and rear plastic, rear grab bar, rear taillight, and the gas tank With those pieces out of the way you can start detaching everything from the rear subframe itself. With everything out of the way then there is just 4 bolts attaching the subframe itself. The new subframe bolted right up with the stock bolts through the new heim joints in the RPM subframe. With slight rerouting of the electrical wires we attached the voltage regulator.

The RPM subframe does not provide mounting for the rear shock reservoir like the stock one so we used some UPP mounts to hold the reservoir The rear brake solenoid mounts up just like it did on the OEM subframe. Since we had a race coming up in two days we went ahead and installed the plastic complete. When we have a little more downtime we will be cutting the plastic so that we can quickly remove the rear fenders without removing the battery. The grab bar and rear taillight mount up the same as OEM.

Summary The rear subframes is well engineered and should hold up to severe abuse. All Motocross racers should have one on their Raptor. The only disadvantage is the additional weight. The Raptor is already on the heavy side and the RPM subframe adds about 5 lbs over the OEM subframe. See you at the track!
