What we can report right now -
Blue Water Casino in Parker Arizona is a "sweet" place to
stay. Great view, good food, fun pool, mid-winter weather that
explains the "snow bird" phenomenom. However, it does NOT have high
speed access, so you'll have to bear with us on the daily coverage
we'll be able to bring you. Yeah, we've got massive photos from Day
1. Nope, we can't post them all just yet. We'll be in Vegas on
Sunday, and will upload photo galleries to your heart's content.
Actually, we know most of you cheat and read this Monday morning
from work anyway, so you'll get your photo galleries fresh
anyway.
In the driver's meeting, Casey
announced the first hint at the date and location of the 5th race
in the 2004 Series, to replace the Baja Mex. It will be October 16,
somewhere around Vegas. He promises it will NOT be the same course
as the Vegas 200 held in December.
Other
race news of interest is that the Vegas to Reno course will have
520 "very awesome" miles, much to be brand new to this event. It
will NOT take the racers through Tonopah or Goldfield, and will
loop out and back so that a single chase vehicle can easy chase to
each pit from 1 through 11. With only 13 pits total, that makes a
pretty easy day for either 2 chase vehicles, or one assist at pit
12.
Back to the subject of THIS race, Casey
was pleased to announce that for the first time in the 29-year
history of the Parker race, the BLM had granted a three-year permit
for the event. This is a huge recognition of the BITD management of
the event.
