This weekend I had the pleasure to sit down and
talk with Suzuki’s newest factory support rider
Jeremy Lawson, during the pit party of the third round of
The Clear Channel Stadium Series race. He is one of the quietest
but nicest racers you'll find on the circuit. This is a guy that
can definitely go Pro and be right up there with the top
riders. The quick run-down - Lawson is from Battletown,
Kentucky. He is twenty years old and currently dedicates all his
time to racing. He rides a Suzuki LT400, as number 161. His
favorite track is Redbud and prefers thumb throttle over twist. He
does not currently have a girlfriend and his favorite food is a Big
Mac. Jeremy is sponsored by Suzuki, Yoshimura, ITP, Tag, Hinson,
Douglas wheels, and Four Apparel. On with the questions.  Q: So let's get this out of the way. Last
weekend at Anaheim you crashed. What exactly happened?
A: I pulled the holeshot and I came into
the second corner. Kory Ellis came on the inside of me. I knew I
had to seat jump it, but I knew once I left the landing I
wasn’t going to make it. I clipped the landing hard and went
down. Q: I know you're not racing today because you're
still hurting from last weekend. But you did go out and do one lap.
How does this track compare to Anaheim of Houston? A: I don’t know - I just did one
lap in practice and my shoulder was pretty sore. I don’t
know, I like Anaheim a lot- it was really good. It’s a good
track. Q: So we all know that you are Suzuki’s
newest rider, but how long have you actually been racing? A: Three years in national and one year
just local, so this is going to me my fifth year.  Q: How does it feel to just sit there and not
do anything while people work on your bike for you?
A: It’s pretty neat I guess. I
don’t know- it’s pretty cool. Q: So how do the other guys treat you, because
we all know you’re the youngest one of the group? A: They treat me really good. They teach
me a lot and I watch them and it helps me out a lot. They're good
to me. Q: Have you raced this series before? A: Nope, this is my first year doing
this series. Q: What are your plans for racing this year? A: I plan on racing the nationals this
year, maybe some other stuff. I don’t really know
yet.  Q: #161 - how did the come about?
A: I was number 16 last year and, I
don’t know, I just wanted a three digit number. I thought it
was pretty neat. Plus if I go somewhere I don’t have to
change my number. Q: Last year you raced the pro am 265 class at
nationals, and took second. Congratulations! What class do you plan
on racing this year? A: Pro Am. I want to race the Production
Pro Am class and hopefully win it. And then move up to the big pro
class next year. Q: Round 9 last year at nationals you missed it.
What happened? A: That was High Point. I hurt my
shoulder again before that and I tore it up so I had to miss that
one. Q: What racer to you look
up to most and why? A: I look up to everybody. Everyone has
there own unique style. I try to watch everyone’s style and
pick it apart. I just really look up to everyone out there who
races. Q: Well it’s time to wrap this up - any
closing statements? A: I'd like to thank everybody who has
