Saturday morning came like the
thunder, people mobbing the registration table, signing up, buying
t-shirts, buying raffle tickets and getting ready to lay it all on
the line. The first event was the Show N Shine, we had everybody
line their bikes up according to make and turned our judges loose
on the line up. It was great to see so many different quads lined
up and their riders getting along.
Here are
the results:
Next event was the Sand Drags, I think
this was the favorite of all the participants. We taped off a
section of the sandiest flats at Dumont, set up lights and POOF
instant dragstrip! Within minutes the lanes were packed with one
quad after the next making their passes.
Everybody was great, they were
safe and followed all of our instructions, THANKS! We didn’t
know how long it was going to take to run through all the
participants, luckily it went very smoothly and very quickly so
everybody got a chance to make several passes.
Here are the results:
After the tear down
of the drag strip, a little break for lunch and a ride around
Dumont with some of the other volunteers, we headed over to Comp
Hill to set up the lanes for the Hill Climbs. If you have never
been to Dumont, you cannot appreciate the sheer steepness of Comp
Hill, which we had to walk up to set up the track. Man were we
exhausted after that!
Once the lanes were
staked off, it was a mad dash of quads lining up to race. We
established the order and got under way with twin radar guns
clocking speeds within a 150 yard distance up Comp.
Here are the results:
King of the Hill
– Jason Phillips with a 57MPH win overall on his 250R Fastest
on the hill Tyler Zuech with a 58MPH on his 500cc 3 wheeler
Time for a little embarrassment….
SLOWEST on the hill
We finished up with
the hillclimbs and headed back to camp for a much needed break and
to tally up the scores. Unfortunately the printer at the drags had
some issues and we had to track speeds the old fashioned way. This
caused for some confusion, but we made due. While tallying up the
scores we had to modify the classes we had already established to
cover the entries that we had. We apologize for the confusion to
all participants.
We owe a big thank you to
all of the great sponsors who made this event possible. Please show
them your support by giving them your business whenever you
can.
Thanks Again to all
participants, sponsors and volunteers. Without you this event would
not have been possible! Also thanks to
The Other Guys Motorsports
for providing their drag equipment, it was
definitely key to making the event the huge success that they
were.
We hope to see you all next
year for a bigger and better event!
