The LTA50 fresh of
the show room floor is extremely docile and slow. Suzuki places a
restrictor plate in the exhaust pipe to conform to the myriad of
ATV safety standards that abound today. If your child has the
proper experience you'll want to remove this plate, unleashing all
the ponies the little mill can provide. The following is a simple,
step by step pictorial and guide that shows you exactly what you'll
see as you make this simple modification
Start by removing all the plastic. The only tricky
part of this step are the snap fasteners at the front of the black
cowl. Gently use a small diameter punch to push the center part
through. Be careful, you'll need to re-use these
fasteners.
Remove the heat shroud fasteners. Three fasteners double to
secure the recoil starter mechanism.
Remove the muffler to frame fastener.
Remove the hex head fasteners at the headpipe. Note, the
fasteners are tight. Use a quality allen wrench made in the USA. Do
not over torque these fasteners on assembly.
Now that's restrictive. It's amazing the little more runs with
this plate in place.

With the restrictor in place, our rider could not climb this
mild grade.
