It's been a fast, frantic summer for ATV legend Doug Gust. He hopped between national series and pushed himself hard. He pushed his Suzuki ever faster, and as always he's finished at the top of the ATV world.

The last frame?s been busted and the last tire?s been popped. The first season is over for the roughest tracks ever known in ATV racing, and Daryl Rath has claimed the first championship of the World Powersports Association Quad Terrain Pro Stock Challenge.

Experience counts for a lot in ATV racing, but 19-year-old Dustin Wimmer is proving that youth and determination are powerful forces on the tracks of the WPSA and The GNC.

Competition has been as fierce as the competitors of the WPSA series and after last weekend?s races in Rossville, Indiana, both pro classes have hot contests with just one point between leaders.

The roads the ATVs drive on are improved logging roads, and riders need to be alert for large logging equipment that could be sitting in the middle of a trail. "It could be actively logged at any time of the year," said Daniels.

It might be heaven on Earth. It’s definitely a destination for ATV riders who are looking for great trails, complete liberty off the trails and every amenity short of a continental breakfast.

City-owned property, there are no races at this six-year-old track. Just a lot of old and young riders having fun.

What does the future hold? “It’s hard to keep two series going,” he said, “plus a fulltime job. So If I can make a go with the WPSA and pick up a little more support, maybe I can quit my fulltime job and race for a living. That would be my goal.”
