Designed with heavy duty four wheeling in mind, the LT-F500F has more than enough power for hauling heavy loads, but is agile enough to maneuver through tight terrain and still fits in a standard-sized pick-up truck. Updates for 2002 include in-gear electric and recoil starting for easy restarts in any gear, a redesigned stainless steel exhaust system for quieter operation and improved throttle response, a new lightweight polyethalene skid plate, revised rear suspension damping for a more comfortable ride and a new longer trailer hitch with a 904 lb. towing capacity on level ground.

The 493cc, liquid-cooled engine is tuned for high torque at low rpm utilizing a 34 mm CV type carburetor with high-mount snorkel intake and a SCEM-plated cylinder for minimal weight and improved heat dissipation. A high-capacity radiator with thermostat controlled cooling fan keeps things cool, and a five-speed transmission with an automatic clutch and two speed sub-transmission with a reverse gear transmits power to the wheels. The QuadRunner's unique torque-sensing limited-slip front differential also features 2WD/4WD selectability and allows for lighter steering in tight turns.

The LT-F500F's sturdy frame features large diameter, thin-walled tubing for maximum strength and minimal weight and is supported by an independent double A-arm front suspension and a four-link rear suspension. Preload adjustable shock absorbers are also mounted at all four corners of the machine. Rugged 25 inch front and rear tires mounted on cast aluminum wheels provide maximum traction and a smooth ride, while hydraulic front disc brakes and a sealed drum rear brake are standard equipment.

Other features include a 325 watt charging capacity, a new 12V/60W automotive style electrical accessory terminal mounted up front, twin headlights, large cargo racks front and rear, and large 5.8 liter storage box.
