Polaris today unveiled its newest side-by-side vehicle today in its new General, a vehicle it hails as “the new standard in off-road versatility.”

The General is a multi-purpose vehicle that Polaris says will offer class-leading features for the trails and the job site. It is powered by a 100-horsepower ProStar 1000 engine that the company says delivers the most power and torque in the class. Performance data for the new General is highlighted with a 0-40 mph time of 3.6 seconds. When it’s time to handle that big job, the General offers a class-leading 1100 lbs. payload capacity and a best-in-class 600 lbs. dump box.

“This vehicle is the most versatile side-by-side ever built, made for those who want to battle it all,” said Tim Blinkhorn, GM, Ranger & Polaris General. “Whether it’s dominating any trail, or conquering any job, The Polaris GENERAL delivers.”

Polaris says the new General features a completely new cabin that features factory-installed half doors with armrests for all-day comfort, protection from debris, and easy access to get in and out of the cab. Bolstered bucket seats are featured, with an adjustable seat offered for the driver. Polaris also says it equipped thin-film technology under the seat cover to make sure it’s a dry ride even in wet conditions.

For added customization, the new Polaris General features an all-new customizable instrumentation cluster that tilts with the steering wheel and includes a combination of digital and analog gauges. Polaris says there is 23 liters of storage in the cab. The center console features an armrest for comfort and lifts to reveal storage, a 12V outlet and two cup holders are featured in front of it as well. Sealed floor seams and equipment pass-throughs keep the occupants cleaner; while dual removable floor drains allow for easier clean out of the cabin.

The General has an 81-inch wheelbase and features dual a-arm front suspension with a class-best 12.25 inches of travel up front, while 13.2 inches of rear travel is offered. Polaris equipped the General with front and rear sway bars to keep the ride level and reduce body roll. The new UTV also features a best-in-class ground clearance of 12 inches. For added protection on the trail, the General features a full-body skid plate.

The General is equipped with a high-performance, close ratio All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system that is designed to maximize power delivery to the ground in a wide variety of terrain. When needed, all four wheels will engage almost instantly for more forward traction and will revert back to 2WD when no longer needed. An Engine Braking System (EBS) provides more control when towing up to 1,500 lbs. and on descents.

Polaris says the General will be launched with 30 brand new Polaris Engineered Accessories and 90-plus common fit items. It will be available in three different models at launch, each offering a variety of different features, with the General Deluxe Orange Burst being the most loaded of the bunch with its adjustable Fox Podium X 2.0 QS3 Shocks, Pro-Fit Lock & Ride Sport Roof, rear-view mirror and MTX Premium Soundbar featuring eight-speakers.

The Velocity Blue and Deluxe Orange Burst models will be available at Polaris dealerships starting in December. The Indy Red will be available in March 2016. More information, head over to http://www.polaris.com/.
