Late last year we came across a trademark filing for “Toyota FT-4X.” The trademarked was placed for automobiles and structural parts thereof, and we speculated at the time the name sure sounds like a possible 4×4. Toyota has used the “FT” moniker before, which has typically stood for Future Toyota. The FT tag and the 4X tag sure sounds like a potential 4×4, though we still have no other information other than the name (and the above teaser image). When pressed about what this new model might be months ago, Toyota representatives were mum on the topic.

Considering the first driver didn’t even come close to making it through this mud hole, you have to wonder what possessed every driver behind him to dive right in only to experience the same outcome.

What is it about a foolish quest that inspires us? The number one pick in the all-time list of novels (going chronologically) is Don Quixote, whose name literally came to mean exceedingly idealistic and unrealistic. Anyway, I’m not totally sure why I’ve got Don Quixote on my mind as I line up behind a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk at the mouth of a snowy trail.
