The Overland Expo descended upon the Mormon Lake area in Flagstaff, Arizona, this past weekend. Highlighting the growing overland segment of the off-road world that places more emphasis on exploring and less on purely tackling massive obstacles, the event returned for another year to highlight new products, provide insight and workshops for drivers, and offering a weekend of food and drinks with like-minded folks.

The recent Overland Expo is actually the “West” version, with the “East” version taking place from October 3-5 in Asheville, North Carolina. With more than 180 exhibitors at this year’s event, we came across a number of cool new products aimed at the overlanding/off-roading experience and a number of unique vehicles. Here are just a few of the highlights we saw at this year’s event.

Baja Rack Water & Fuel Storage
Designed for use with its storage racks, Baja Rack offers options for safely and securely storing fuel and water in its new fuel/water can holders. Each holder will accommodate two cans with dimensions of 13.75” x 6.5” x 18.25”. Each can holder is finished with a Zinc primer with black powder coating, and the racks are compatible with all Baja Rack storage racks. Phoenix Pop-Up Campers
We came across this unique setup from Phoenix Pop-Up Campers at this year’s show. The company, which makes custom campers for all types of vehicles, highlighted its Lil’ Burro for the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to provide an all-inclusive sleeper/camper option. Using a four-door JK as the base, the company first extended the frame to support this electrically-lifted camper. It features three awnings, a 12-gallong propane tank to run the two burners in the kitchen, a 10-gallon water tank (though it can fit up to a 20-gallon tank), a 1.7-liter fridge, loads of storage as well as a 78-inch slide-out bed that will support up to 500 pounds.

The base price for Phoenix Pop-Up Campers is $18,000, though the Lil’ Burro runs closer to $30,000 as shown. With under-bed storage, an extended outdoor shower, and the ability to hook up for electricity at campgrounds, this camper provides just about anything you’ll need for a long trip.
